Google rejected my site for ads because I have no content 😢

As I learn, actually re-learn, many of the details of starting up a website, one of the things I’m currently working on is getting ads on my site. The reason for this is because it’ll help me pay for hosting this site and renewing my domain name. I just got denied, but hoping this time it goes through as I do plan to post much more about all the things I learn everyday about whatever.

In case you are trying to enable Google AdSense on your site, here’s what they sent me as suggestions on approving my site for ads. Maybe it’ll help you as well:

Why is whatever, whatever while wherever is not whereever?

Little odd nuances to the English language.

I still get confused with ending sentences in quotes like “. or .”

And now they changed possessives that ended with the letter s so you should use ‘s vs. just a ‘. 😠

Other words English things that mix me up:

  • Some reason I always instinctively write “bear with me” when it should be “bare with me”.
  • I’m pretty sure may be and maybe are different, but not totally sure.
  • I still remember the first time I pronounced subtle in my English class incorrectly.

I’m sure I’ll remember more odd nuances in the future…tagging this as an in progress entry.

Wear a Mask!

During this pandemic: wear. a. mask.

This blog is new. It’s about whatever. Sometimes, I’ll write about a serious issue like masks.

It’s not about you. It’s about protecting the people around you, your friends, and your family. It’s about caring for those around you. It’s about treating each other with respect. It’s being a grown ass adult. It isn’t a political issue. It doesn’t make you look weak. I’d argue it does just the opposite.

Also note, a mask will help with ALL respiratory illnesses like the flu. Flu season is right around the corner and COVID-19 plus the Flu could be devastating.

A quick run through of how I got my website to this point…

Here’s how I got to this point. A basic website with a blog. Nothing fancy. You have to note that this is not the only way to start a website, but it’s how I did it. There are a lot of companies out there that offer the “whole package”. I didn’t do it that way, and went a little piece meal and not necessarily the most efficient way to get to an actual website. Here’s a super general description of the order I ended up doing things.

Why I started this site

The main reason is to brush up on all the new web hosting tools, WordPress, plugins, ads, etc. to see how they work, how they’ve changed. I don’t want to fall so out of the loop, I have no idea what’s going on anymore.

So I guess this website will end up being a journal of whatever happens as I re-learn tools of hosting a website today. It’ll be interesting seeing how ads work, how search engine optimizations work, how these new WordPress plugins work. Eventually I might try to tie some commerce activity and share the process.

Up to today, I’ve setup a domain, added WordPress application, configured some ads using Google Adsense, added a couple plugins to WordPress. Now, I’m just waiting to see how everything starts coming together. I still don’t see any working ads on this site.

I’m currently using the default WordPress editor to write this post, but have options to use others. I almost lost all my text! I guess that’s all the playing around for now.

Enjoy the whatever.
